February is Black History Month and I’m proud to partner with Flyy High and other Cryptactivists to help raise awareness and sustainable funds for their mission to educate people throughout the diaspora on all things crypto, DeFi, and NFTs. We identify as Cryptactivists – we use cryptocurrencies and leverage crypto education bring change to and make an impact in our communities, societies, and the world.  After publishing DeFi for the Diaspora, meeting the great folks at Flyy High, and seeing how our missions aligned the founders of BHM NFT and I have teamed up to make the largest international book donation of DeFi for the Diaspora in various formats to the Moonlight Centre School in Nairobi, Kenya.

The BHM 2022 NFT salute is a collection of 25 Unique NFT’s that will be minted on OpenSea using the Polygon blockchain. In honor of black history month, 25 NFTs will be created that artistically represents the future generation of the black diaspora inspired by the legacy of the diaspora of African descent who have made an impact not only in the black community but in the world. These are personalities that empowered us, strengthened us, and changed the fate of our entire community; therefore, we choose to pay homage and honor them by carrying the torch toward forward progress. These NFT’s along with apparel will be available for purchase. A portion of the proceeds sales will be directed towards our fundraising goal of $2500, which will be donated to Moonlight Centre.

The Moonlight Center is on a mission to provide quality education to every child regardless of their background. The Center has a vision to raise the living standards of people from poor backgrounds through education and mentorship. Sponsorship of copies of DeFi for the Diaspora lays the groundwork for exposing and educating the students about cryptocurrency/blockchain technology and the opportunity it provides for the diaspora. Proceeds of this NFT minting event will go towards the sponsorship of hygiene products for over 100 female students for 1 full year; establishing printing services to enable Moonlight to offer printing services locally for a source of sustainable funds; and sponsorship of a crypto wallet for DeFi activities.

“We are very appreciative for the support and delighted that these materials will help our students learn about this new technology, and furthermore allow them to build a foundation to leverage it in an equitable and sustainable way.”

“On behalf of the school, teachers, and the students, thank you for your support toward our mission. We believe this education will go a long way to impart knowledge and skills to help our students, teachers and the community here in Nairobi find new ways to earn a living.”

– Samson Aluda, Director/founder-Moonlight Center School
